May

We took an impromptu visit to Philadelphia to visit the children's museum.
The kids got a lot of pretending and playing done!
Max as the Statue of Liberty.
Kai as Lady Liberty.

Kai as the Queen of Clubs.

Workin' guys.
Paging Doctor Max, Paging Doctor Max.
Pretending to be in Wonderland.

Tea, anyone?
Pretending to be planes.
Flyin' high in space!

Playing with feathers.
Heavy machinery operator!
Kai is a great mechanic. (Way to match those spark plugs!)
Of course, a visit to Philly requires a steak-off.
Geno's versus Pat's. (Wit Wiz.)
Carl voted for Pat's, Jen agreed, the kids napped unknowingly in their car seats. Sorry kids!
We drove down the Jersey shore on our way home and took a pit stop in Atlantic City.
(Not until you're older, boys!)
Kai and Max posing on the AC boardwalk.
Then we stopped at the Cape May zoo.
(These giraffes are for you Grandma W.!)
Max tried to roar as loud as the tiger.
Carl with a couple of monkeys we picked up along the way.
We took the ferry from Cape May, NJ to Lewes, DE.
Crazies waiting for the ferry.
Aasen men, All Aboard!

May also brought Max's first field trip.
The pre-K kids visited a farm. (That's Max as the horse.)
It was a dairy farm, so the kids got a little lesson in milking.
A handful of Max's classmates.
Max and his friend Oliver pet this cute two-day-old calf.
After the farm, the kids went to the Salisbury Zoo.
These are the munchkins that Jen (who was chaperoning) looked out for.
***
A day of fun with newspaper,
Kai (aka Pirate Aqua-Squid) and Max (aka Pirate Jungle Mouth) make great swashbucklers.
Max's second year of dance classes at the Eastern Shore Dance Academy culminated with the recital 'Dancin' through the Decades!'.
Ballet performed to the theme from the Pink Panther.
Tapping to a hula from Lilo n' Stitch.
***
Max at scoopers (aka LaCrosse).
***
Vintage air show.

April

Sandy Hill Pre-K had an Easter Egg Hunt!
The whole class was really excited!
They hunted for eggs on the playground, and Max was READY!
"How do you open this thing?!?!?"
(This is Alison next to Max. He calls her his 'wife'.)
On Easter morning, Max was first to find his basket.

But, with a little help, Kai wasn't far behind.
Then the kids looked for eggs in the yard at Lodgecliffe.
Ah, Easter success!
The week after Easter, Grandma and Grandpa Aasen came for a visit!
We got in a bit of trouble in Ocean City.
(Do you think the stocks might work better than a time out?)
We rode the boardwalk in a stylish surrey.
We took the grand-Aasens to Baltimore's Inner Harbor.
We left our impression at the Maryland Science Center!
For all of you Man V. Food fans, we took on the Ultimate Milkshake Challenge at Chick and Ruth's Delly in Annapolis.

As you can see, six pounds of ice cream equal a shake almost as big as Kai!

It may have taken all six of us, but we took that shake down!
